The Alberta Next Panel is touring the provinces to hear from Albertans on how our province can better protect ourselves from Ottawa’s attacks, while building a more prosperous, strong and sovereign Alberta within Canada.

A provincial referendum on some of these ideas is coming in 2026 but what’s on that ballot will be informed by your feedback.

Is this about Alberta separating from Canada?

No, Alberta Next is about exploring the ideas and policies to assert our sovereignty and constitutional rights within a united Canada. After decades of unfairness and mistreatment, we must stand up for our people, economy and shared future as Canadians.

Who can attend the townhalls?

All Albertans are welcome, so long as they are behaving respectfully.

What kinds of policy ideas will be discussed?

Our initial list of discussion items can be found here. We will modify the list and discussion based on your feedback throughout the process.

Will there be a referendum in 2026?

Yes. Ideas and discussion from the Alberta Next process will inform the questions put forward to Albertans for a vote in 2026 to assert our sovereignty and constitutional rights within a united Canada.
